The straw is purchased
in untreated bundles
of haulm. The pieces,
once selected, are flattened
and worked until they
form small, regular,
clean ribbons, about
thirty centimeters long and
about eight millimeters wide.
These pieces are then stuck edge to edge and burnished on
a plywood base until
they form an even surface.
